The Midea 20kW is the top of the single phase range and is built for large domestic pools – 60,000 to 70,000 litres, or a smaller volume that needs to come up to temperature quickly rather than being held warm continuously. Rated heating output is 18.8kW under summer conditions, rising to 21.8kW with boost engaged.
Check the electrical supply before ordering. At 23A maximum current this unit needs a dedicated circuit with a 30A breaker, and on an older distribution board that is not always straightforward. If you have three phase available, the MSC-200D2RN8-A is the identical machine on a 380-415V supply drawing only 9A – contact us and we will quote that version instead.
Like the 16kW, this model carries boost cooling as well as boost heating, so it can pull water temperature down in high summer as readily as it lifts it in the shoulder season.
The full inverter compressor reaches a coefficient of performance of 12.4 at low load. On a pool this size the unit spends most of the season replacing evaporation losses rather than climbing to temperature, and a modulating compressor at part load is the most efficient way to do that.
Boost mode holds full capacity down to 15°C ambient air, matching what a normal-mode heat pump would only produce at 27°C. That is what keeps a large uncovered pool usable well outside the traditional season.
Running noise is 54dB(A), the highest in the range, dropping to 43dB(A) in silent mode. Placement matters on this unit – keep it away from bedroom windows and boundary walls where you can.
Installation: plumbed inline on the return from your existing pool pump, 50mm water connections. Electrical connection at the isolator by your own registered electrician.
